2022 Oscars: Teachable Moment

It is good sense in a man to be slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

I thought it was important to highlight the 2022 Oscars as a teachable moment and not only see the negative impact. A one-dimensional perspective would require us to omit all of the hardworking individuals that executed the vision of Mr. Packard. Let's be clear! The 2022 Oscar was a resounding success. Congratulations to the many first—what a fantastic masterpiece by Mr. Will Packard and his team.

Proverbs 17:14

The start of strife is like the opening of a dam; therefore, check a quarrel before it begins.

This quote is profound. It is written for us to scrutinize our hearts hence protecting us from a situation that could otherwise become ugly. However, we are human and fallible. We should self-reflect and put ourselves in the other person's shoes before judging. From my perspective, I saw Mr. Smith as a protector, loving husband, and someone under enormous pressure. Let’s stop, reflect, and open our hearts for a minute!. Mr. Smith’s coming to his wife’s defense can be justified; however, as a father, public figure, and role model, it wasn’t the time to explode.

I commend Mr. C. Rock for not retaliating on stage. He handled the backlash with maturity and grace. Since two wrongs don’t make a right., Mr. Rock's decision to maintain a high level of professionalism should be expected and maintained by all public figures.

Now that the Oscars are a thing of the past, I anticipate we can use the present and future to talk about leadership, civility, and sportsmanship. So, even though we may be talking about this mishap for some time, CPR LLC hopes to use this opportunity as a teachable moment. Our kids deserve better from our public figures and leaders alike, from the boardroom, classroom, to the global stage

Even though we may have different opinions of this night, the true essence must not be lost. The show was historic, classy, funny, inclusive, and so many awards that I have not mentioned. So, Debbie downers, hooray. I am here to say the Oscar was a resounding success. Thank you to the Academy for picking the right man and team to do the job.
